Vineyard Area
Casablanca is situated in the Valdiruela Valley, a north-facing transition zone between the valley floor and the high moorland plateau (páramo) of Gumiel de Mercado. The selection of this site is just 0.9-hectare and from the very highest part of the vineyard, which is about 880 meters. This high altitude ensures a large diurnal temperature shift, which preserves the "snap" of acidity in the grapes.

Soil
The name "Casablanca" (White House) refers to an old local building made of the white bedrock (calcareous limestone) found right at the surface. The soil is a high-carbonate, chalky clay that looks white when dry.

880 meters
